The standard long arm of the Tau Imperium and issued in numbers to botht he TAE and valkiir military the Kpz is a fast firing semi automatic weapon with enough punch to seriously injure or disable most targets that the Imperium usually faces.

Like most personal plasma weapons the weapon uses a fuel pellet of hydrogen chemicals and metallic powder. this pellet is fed into a firing chamber where it is excited to a plasma state, then compressed by gravitic forces into a bolt often no larger than a pea.
This bolt is propelled by a linear magnetic accelerator down range. the gravitic bubble remains cohesive for several seconds after firing allowing the plasma bolt to stay at useful densities until it strikes a target.
At which point the gravitic bubble ruptures and releases the plasma creating a powerful pinpoint blast of heat, plasma and a significant concussion effect at the point of impact.
Like most plasma weapons the Kpz-7's bolt tend to burst on contact with any significant obstruction or heavy foliage. while a Projectile weapon can punch through light walls and heavy foliage the plasma bolt simply detonates on contact and can only inflict damage to a target that happens to be in contact with the surface struck by the bolt

This weapon features a twin magazine design, one magazine holds the twenty feul pellets for the weapon the second contains a powerful superconducting power storage cell. the power cell can cycle the weapon 200 times before needing to be replaced meaning the combatant only has to carry three or four power cells for a standard days combat.
These cells are intended to be recovered and recharged by a standard unit built into most vehicles or a stand alone recharge station but are often dropped in the ehat of combat.
