B 129 Fearless Light Bomber

Description

Bombers have been at the forefront of offensive air and space operations since the early days of flight. the most effective way for aircraft to engage ground targets is simply to drop enough explosive ordnance on their heads to leave a large smoking hole where the target used to be.
Over the years precision guided weapons, targeting systems and other advances no longer require lumbering formations of hundreds of craft to deal decisive damage to a target. A hand full of smaller more precise weapons can no do the work of multi tone payloads and wide area bombardment.
Light fighters such as this one tend to be used against starships, platforms and fixed defenses. The are slow and less agile than most other combat craft but they are one of the few small craft capable of seriously threatening even a dreadnought class warship.

Notes
Usually armed with an anti ship torpedo, heavy stand off attack missiles, guided bombs and other slow moving high power ordnance the Bomber is not useful, and extremely vulnerable in air to air combat.

This model carries twin rapid fire Plasma Phalanx Point Defense guns in the rear, as well as a single mount in the nose. these weapons send out a sleet of rounds designed to intercept incoming missiles, deter fighter attack, or persuade people to get out of its way as it makes it's attack run.

Trivia:
The German Warship Bismark was destroyed after sinking the HMS Hood. It was able to elude pursuit until it's steering gear was severely damaged by a single torpedo hit. The attacking aircraft were obsolete Biplanes which flew to slowly for the Bismark's state of the art anti-aircraft system to effectively target.

The Yamato was the largest most powerful Battleship ever built. It's gun turrets weighed as much as many destroyers and could lob an 18 inch armor piercing shell almost 20 miles. It was destroyed by heavy air attack while on a suicide attack at US landing forces.

In the Battle of Leyte Gulf "Taffy Three" aircraft, destroyers, and destroyer escorts engaged the Japanese battle fleet led by the Yamato. They attacked with such so fiercely, and inflicted such damage on the superior enemy forces that the commanding admiral concluded he was engaging the entire American fleet and retreated.
Many of the Bombers and fighters attacking the Imperial Fleet ships were armed with only depth charges, machine guns, or in several cases unarmed all together. Their ferocious attacks prevented the Imperial Japanese fleet from destroying the American Invasion fleet and potentially derailing the pacific war.

During the Second world war Civilian volunteers flying with the Civil Air Patrol modified their light aircraft to carry a single light bomb ( which required them to remove a tail fin to keep it from dragging the ground on take off and landing.) The engaged and damaged several U-boats of the coast of North Carolina radioed in locations to the navy of others, and, were a source of annoyance to the point one German Admiral cursed "Those little Yellow airplanes" Semper Vigilans!
